Dog Websites

On this page, I'll put some of the dog sites that I've used and found particularly helpful and sites where you can find other dog lovers to talk with. I'll try to provide a small description about the site; however, these are my opinions and may not coincide with what others.

Forums
These are some of the dog forums I have visited. Forums are made so that you can post questions, share stories, pictures, and listen to experiences from other dog owners. They are an excellent way to make new friendships and stay up to date with new information.
- This is probably the forum I frequent the most. The atmosphere is very friendly and warm. There are many knowledgeable members that can help with your questions. It isn't heavily populated so things are closer knit. These guys are very friendly to new members.

- This forum has members on at all times, it is frequently visited and questions here usually get quite a few responses. The community here is also very welcoming and friendly. The tabs on the top of the page provide important information about the site, articles, news amongst other things. This site is particularly strict about putting links to pet related sites and the signatures are restricted to text only. It is definitely a big forum but a good place to learn from others and interact with dog lovers. On a side note, I've noted that many members there are from the UK.

- A highly populated dog forum, with many members on every hour and is well moderated. You can find great information on various topics; debates aren't uncommon on this forum from my experience. Questions are usually answered very quickly. There is much to learn from all the members here and information is always up to date.

- This site is less frequented compared to DogForums but still has members on almost every hour. I noticed a warmer and friendlier atmosphere here too. You'll find many knowledgeable members. It's a great place to post questions you may have.

- On a personal note, this is the first dog forum to which I registred. It's a branch from the site of the Dog Fancy editors. Traffic isn't too high but questions do get intellectual answers and the community is warm and friendly.

- Another close knit and warm dog owner community. People here, I have found, are particularly friendly to new members. Lately traffic is picking up with the updates the site has had.

- This isn't a site I frequent lately; however, the time that I was active I found that it was a nice site. So far it's the only forum that I have seen that contained a "Debate" forum, on which one can find great information on both sides of an issue. Its relatively easy to make good friends here.
- This is definitely a close knit community. To register, the administrators have to OK the registration, which might take a while depending on the time you register; this really cuts down on spam and things alike. The great majority of the members seem to be from the UK from my observations. The site is very well moderated and all moderators and administrators are active, involved, and friendly.

Informational Dog Sites
Here are some sites that aren't interactive but contain wonderful and helpful information that can be of used for future reference. Many of these sites have newsletters to which you can subscribe, it would be a good idea to look for these to get informative articles by email.
- Extensive time has been put into this site and you'll find information on a myriad of topics concerning many kinds of pets not only limited to dogs. From articles I've read there on nutrition, I would say that information is clear and understandable.

- Information on every AKC registered dog can be found here as well as links regarding breeders and dog sports/activities. There are also other great articles to read there like one on responsible dog ownership. I would suggest registering for their newsletter, it is filled great information including topics like dog legislative matters, it's worth reading.

- This is a Labrador Kennel link, however great informative articles are available to look through and some descriptions of the kennel itself. I have seen this website used a couple times in forums myself, so it seems like a reliable source.

- I recently found this great site. It talks about dealing with fearful dogs, which from personal experience is a common issue with rescues. And seeing how this problem can be particularly difficult to deal with, its good to have a clear guide to help you through the process.

- After asking some people on forums about nutrition sites, someone brought this one up. There is a lot of information regarding dog nutrition. It's definitely worth a read if you are looking to gain more knowledge on canine nutrition.

- This is a wonderful site to which I was recently introduced. It contains various in-depth articles that have been written by veterinarians. There is also a list of illnesses that may afflict dogs and a description of what exactly that ailment is. This site isn't only limited to dogs either, there are cat and other pet articles too.

-You can find many informational dog related articles that will help with many aspects of dog ownership. ABetterDog4U.com, like this site, will constantly get new updates and new articles to read, so regular visits to this site will really be worth it. There is also a funny "Daily Funnies" page, filled with humorous pictures/stories for visitor's entertainment.

- This is Dr. Ian Dunbar's site, a renown dog trainer that focuses on luring and non-aversive training techniques. There are many articles one can read on a myriad of topics and also videos and radio clips regarding certain aspects of training such as phasing out food treats and problems like separation anxiety. Dogstardaily also has an e-newsletter you can sign up on and receive articles regarding topics
that may interest you.

- This site is made by the editors of the Dog Fancy magazine; the home page has a great range of information regarding dogs. Stay up to date with the latest news regarding our dogs and great tips from experts and voice your opinions on the subject as well.

Social Dog Networks
These are dog related sites that are fun to visit and allow you to interact with other dog lovers. Most of these sites have their own forums, however the site itself is mainly to pass time and have fun.

- This is a site I frequent regularly. In short, you are given wolf like creatures called wajas. The basic object of the game is to breed new wajas taking into mind their genetics such as coat markings and mutations from which to choose. Accessories can be attached to your wajas, and you have many breeds, markings, and mutations to choose from. The community there is quite large, anywhere from 200-500 people online every hour, which makes the game more fun.

- This is the first dog site I joined, the atmosphere is very friendly and making friends isn't hard at all. You basically make a blog page for your dog(s) and talk to others as if you were your dog. It's a great way to meet other people and really get your imagination going. On here you can create avatars, add friends, and much more. A particularly interesting aspect is that for doing things (like blogging) you get points which you can eventually redeem for cool dog supplies. Your dog also has a chance to win Dog of the Day (DOTD) or Dog of the Month (DOTM).

- This is a fun interactive dog site. You use HTML code to decorate your dog's page; you can add music, wallpapers, and anything else you want. Dog of the Day and Dog of the Week are obtainable titles here. You can also find informative articles and forums on the Dogster Homepage. Dogster also provides Private messaging and Instant messaging systems to allow you to keep in touch with your friends.

- This site is very much like Myspace and dogster. Using HTML you decorate your dog's page and make friends and talk to them using the blog system, Instant Messenger, or Private Messenger.

Many thanks to all the wonderful pet sites that have agreed to exchange links with us! Please feel free to stop by this link page and check out their banners and all the wonderful things these sites have to offer: Links Page
